The river in Tokushima City is “Yoshino River” and the mountain is “Mt. Bizan”.Bizan, which was written about in the Manyoshu (The Anthology of Myriad Leaves) by the Manyoshu poet “Funao,” is a gently sloping mountain that resembles an eyebrow from any angle, and is widely familiar to citizens as a symbol of Tokushima City.Bizan (Mt. Take the ropeway for an aerial walk on Mt. Bizan
You can hike or drive to the top of Mt. Bizan, but the best way to get there is by ropeway.Six minutes to the summit! Aerial walk through the cityscape of Tokushima while swaying in the gondola.The boarding area is the Bizan Ropeway Sanroku Station on the 5th floor of the Awa Odori Kaikan, a 10-minute walk from Tokushima Station.
The ropeway usually runs every 15 minutes.As the two gondolas slowly ascend, the cityscape of Tokushima City appears between the greenery. As you look at the view of Tokushima City spread out below you, you will arrive at the “summit station” in no time.

Out of the summit station building, you’ll find a spectacular observation deck!
Bizan is 290 m above sea level, and from its observatory, on a clear day, one can enjoy views of the Yoshino River (Shikoku Saburo), Tokushima City, Onaruto Bridge, Awaji Island, and Wakayama Prefecture, and it is also known as the best night view spot in Shikoku.

Brow Glasses
LED kaleidoscope monument. It is 6 meters high, 3.6 meters long and 3 meters wide at the top, making it one of the largest LED kaleidoscopes in Japan.Directly below the monument is a 1 meter diameter hole through which you can look up and see a kaleidoscope of approximately 4,100 LEDs glowing!
Pagoda
Pagoda means stupa in English.
It was built in 1958 by the Prefecture Burma Association to comfort the souls of the fallen soldiers of World War II, in the hope of peace by referencing the shape of the Shwedagon Pagoda, a symbol of peace in Yangon, the capital of Myanmar.
With a conical dome in a style unique to Burma, it is 25 meters high, making it one of the largest pagodas in Japan. It houses the stupa donated by Burma at that time.

Visitors can take a leisurely stroll through the forest, relax on a bench, and enjoy nature.
Stroll the foot of Mt.Bizan
Take a stroll through the temple town while enjoying the famous “Taki no Yakimochi” (roasted rice cake with waterfall).

Expectations are high for the emotional buildings leading from the stone steps to Takiyakushi, the large brick door curtains, and the atmosphere of the teahouse.Stepping into the restaurant, one finds a quiet and relaxed atmosphere in the cozy interior.Shiraito Waterfall flows through the garden, and the overflowing greenery looms from the large windows.Usually from mid-November to early March, the area around Shiraito Falls is covered in yellow flax.
The treat is “Taki no Yakimochi” (waterfall roasted rice cakes)
In 1924, when Iemasa Hachisuka Iemasa built Tokushima Castle, the confectionery was presented to the lord of the Tokushima Domain, and it gained fame as the official confectionery of the lord of the domain.The yakimochi, familiarly known by its pressed chrysanthemum pattern, is slowly baked at the storefront upon order. The surface of the rice cake has a savory burn, and the inside is chewy and goes well with the light sweet bean paste.
Tomita Hachiman Shrine
It is one of the “Five Shrines in Tokushima City” established by Iemasa Hachisuka, the first lord of the Tokushima Domain, as the guardian of Tokushima Castle, and is a shrine with a long history that has been deeply revered by successive lords of the domain. The Zuijinmon Gate was built in the mid-Edo period and is designated as a cultural property of Tokushima City. The hall of worship has an unusual steep staircase like a stone wall.

Kinryu water
A place to draw water from “Kinryu-sui”, famous as Tokushima’s famous water.
It has long been valued as drinking water by the local residents, including the feudal lord of the Awa domain. Locals are constantly coming to draw water.
