Takayamainari jinja Shrine-Aomori Power Spot | Aomori

What kind of shrine is “Takayamainari jinja Shrine”? A shrine with many divine virtues

Takayamainari jinja Shrine is located in Ushigata-cho, Tsugaru City, Aomori Prefecture.

Originally, there was a great sacred place called San’o Shrine, which flourished as a prayer place for the Ando clan that ruled this area (Tosaminato, Tosaminato) from the Kamakura period to the Muromachi period (1336-1573).
During the Muromachi period (1336-1573), the area was invaded by the Nanbu clan and for a time faced a long period of desolation, but in the Edo period (1603-1867), the Takayama Inari Shrine was built and the area once again prospered.
Today, the shrine is known for its various divine virtues, such as a good harvest, safety in the home, and prosperous business.

Takayamainari jinja Shrine | FOUND JAPAN

A famous historical incident is related to the founding of the shrine of Takayamainari jinja Shrine.

Originally, San’o Shrine stood on this site, but the reason why Inari Shrine was established is said to be related to a famous incident.
This incident is said to be related to a famous incident that occurred in 1701 in Edo Castle, when Naganori Asano attacked Kira Uenosuke (famous for the “Ako Incident” or “Pine Corridor”), which led to the Ako Rōnishi revenge attack.
The Asano clan of the Ako domain was crushed (Naganori Asano committed seppuku) as a result of this incident, but a clan member, Sangoro Terasaka, reverently received the deity Inari, which was enshrined in Ako Castle, and moved to Hirosaki Castle in Tsugaru, where he ran a brewery business called “Ako ya” (Ako store).
Later, when the descendants of Terasaka Sangoro moved to Oshima in Hokkaido, they built Takayamainari jinja Shrine in Takayama as a sacred site, which remains to this day.

Takayamainari jinja Shrine shows different scenery in spring, summer, fall, and winter.

Known as a power spot in Aomori, Takayama inari jinja Shrine looks different in spring, summer, fall, and winter.
The shrine is especially beautiful during the seasons of autumn leaves, snow, and cherry blossoms, and visitors can enjoy the collaboration of the thousand torii gates (actually there are not a thousand) and the Japanese garden as they visit the shrine.
Also, since this is an Inari shrine, there are many foxes in the shrine grounds instead of fox guardian dogs, which are the messengers of the Inari god (god of good harvest and prosperous business).
