Powerful Goma Shugyo! Burn away your worries at Takahata Fudo

Goma is an esoteric Buddhist ritual using fire. Worshippers write their wishes and concerns on firewood called gomagi.
The gomagi is burned in a fire symbolizing the wisdom of Fudo Myoo, the principal deity of the temple, to drive away evil and purify wishes.

You will be overwhelmed by the power of the fire burning in front of the main image and the monks reading sutras.
At Takahata Fudo, gomashugyo is held every day from 8:00 a.m. to about every one and a half to two hours.
You do not have to apply for a gomagi to see the ceremony, so please come and observe it.
